A worked way to think about it

A matched cohort contains 400 visitors, 40 inquiry-step clickers and 8 visitors whose inquiries arrived. The stage rates describe this sample; they do not prove that the page caused the outcome.

Before acting on the result

  1. Count people consistently across all stages.
  2. Use one completed observation window.
  3. Confirm receipt rather than counting an email click as a lead.
  4. Investigate missing measurement before changing the design.
  5. Measure a proposed change with a comparable follow-up.
Does a low stage rate identify the cause?

No. The counts describe the observed path. Traffic intent, tracking gaps, device mix and the offer may all affect it. Investigate a specific hypothesis before making a change.

Method and primary guidance

This is an educational planning aid. Its logic is deterministic and bounded; it has no access to your website or Google account. Review the dated source evidence when making a real decision.
